MANAGER
Emmerson Boyce expressed his commitment to "making the town proud of its women’s team" following his appointment as the inaugural manager of Wigan Athletic Women.
“This is an exciting time, and I’m thrilled to be back,” Boyce shared. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to grow women’s football in this area, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Boyce emphasized the importance of club support in advancing the women’s team. “Without the ownership group’s backing, none of this would be possible. It’s fantastic to see their commitment to progressing the women’s side and creating pathways for female players.”
“Our goal is to ensure the town is proud of its women’s team, fostering a strong community connection and creating an exciting future for everyone involved.”
Reflecting on his personal ties to Wigan, Boyce added, “I have a deep history here, and I’m eager to share my experiences with the players and coaching team. We aim to succeed both on and off the field, establishing role models and clear pathways for young girls to follow in their heroes’ footsteps.”
“With women’s football on the rise, Wigan is ready to be a part of it. It’s an incredible opportunity for the club and the players to showcase our potential and make a real impact in developing future talent.”
